Alzheimer's House: About me

I live in New York and work for the Federal Government as an advocate for disabled people. I am married with one child and one grandchild. My husband takes care of my parents and the house during during the day and I try to help at night when I get home from work. This blog is my therapy and it means everything to me. In my spare time to get away I like cross stitching, coloring, reading, and watching movies. My parents living with me is blessing and I enjoy spending time with them everyday. About This Blog

I started this blog in the hope that other people that are dealing with a family member who has a disability and lives with them will know that they are not in the situation alone. When your family members are caregivers the disease affects the entire family not just the person that is living with the disease. I hope that my stories about our everyday struggles will help other people to get new ideas as to how our family copes. This blog is also a stress release for me and my family. We try to keep a positive outlook that we can deal with almost anything that this disease can throw at us. I also enjoy getting feedback from my visitors. Stay strong and remember you are not alone.

My Parents

This is my Mom and JW. My Father is the bravest man I know. For seven years he has had to face some pretty horrendous things. Trying to form a word, depending on other people for the slightest things. Not knowing family members. Not being able to walk properly, unable to feed himself if the tremors are really bad on any given day. But he keeps trying even if it is over and over. I love being able to make him smile. I love the brightness in his eyes. I love the way he reaches up for me to help him sit up in the bed. No words, but when I say "daddy, I am here." He reaches up and puts his arm around my neck. I kiss his cheek and sit him up. Other family members will have their special memories of my father. However, there is only one "Daddy's girl."
