National Clean off Your Desk Day

01/12/2015

Today is National Clean Off Your Desk Day. I kid you not.

If you think about it we spend 33% or more of our day at our desk. 37% of our day is spent sleeping, if you are lucky enough to get 8-9 hours sleep. My desk is my home away from home. I have pretty much every thing within a 180° semi circle within my line of vision. The items on my desk are arranged with priority as too their importance. Right in front of my face is Micky Mouse ears with a picture of my son pined in the middle. It does not matter if he is 44. What matters is he is my son. Oh, the ears are mounted on top of my computer monitor. Yes, I have gone around the bend.

To the right of that is my vision board. A vision board is a powerful visualization tool that you can use as inspiration for your for your journey toward your ideal life. You can put anything that you want on your board that makes you feel good. I have quotations, prayers, pictures and notes. I look at it quite often if I need to stabilize stress.

To the left is a picture of my parents, telephone, picture of my husband, picture of my grandson and my note paper. Then there is my printer and lots more pictures and office supplies. That about covers my desk but I am not about to clean it off. I have boxes full of different season chotchkies stored in every available out of sight space and once in awhile I change the look of the outside of my cube. With 60 people in our office you would be amazed at the different choices that they choose to make their working space more comfortable. There is one office that looks like a living room. It is beautiful. There is one space that has absolutely nothing in it. She is an amazing minimalist. There are beyond organized spaces and to the other extreme some that you could not find their desk if you tried. I enjoy the variety of spaces and never tire of the unique ideas for decorating.

That only leave me 30% of my day to do housework, make phone calls, pick up meds, shop, vacuum, shower, laundry, commute, eat dinner, read the daily news, take care of Alzheimer and get ready for bed. Lets not forget Dr. appointments and dentist appointments.

My stuff stays on my desk. I try to keep the busyness at a minimum and do try to clear the paperwork off every night before I leave.

Tomorrow is National Rubber Ducky Day.  Hooray I do not have to obsess over that.
